About Something To Do
A journal for your places, built with heart
Something To Do is meant to be a place for you to keep track of all the places that you want to go or have been—in a way that makes sense to you and your brain. A way you can actually understand and use. But here's the best part: it also gives you recommendations from the places you've already defined that you want to go. Your own saved places, surfaced when you actually need them.
The Problem
Currently, on Google Maps and Apple Maps, what I found is that they don't usually recommend you places that you have already saved—places you're actually interested in going to.
This is a problem. I already have a lot of places that I want to go to saved, but they just sit there. They don't surface when I'm exploring a neighborhood or looking for something nearby. It's frustrating to have all these places saved but never actually get to them because the apps don't remind you they exist.
The Solution
So I decided to create this application. You can find my initial version at somethingto.do. As I continued working on it, I learned what the idea really is: a journal of all the places I've been and want to go.
The mobile app allows you to ask questions to your place data and get intelligent recommendations. You can see your data come to life with visualizations that update programmatically. It helps you be more mindful and understand what you like and don't like about the places you visit.
How It Works
The way this app works is simple: I can go to a neighborhood, open my app, press "locate me," and it shows me every place I've saved in that area. If I want to go to a restaurant, I press the restaurant filter, get some quick info, and go there. I can easily surface the information that I need to go to the places that I have saved. I'm actually using my data in a way that makes sense.
Not a Replacement, An Enhancement
The application itself is pretty simple. It's not meant to replace any other application, really—it's meant to enhance them. It's not meant to replace Apple Maps, Google Maps, Yelp, or whatever else. It's meant to be there in conjunction with all of those applications.
Why? Because this app's niche is pretty much only for all the places that you want to go. It's a way to keep track of all those places. A way for you to meditate or think about all these places.
Memories That Matter
In the future, you just look at it and you'll be like, "Oh my God, yeah, I remember being here." You read your notes and you're like, "Yeah, I remember feeling this way." You kind of get that little smiley face because of that. It's about creating a personal connection with the places in your life.
Built With Heart
This application was created with a lot of dedication and heart. I just decided to build something that works great for me. I have been using this application since about November 2025, and it has been an amazing experience for me.
I would love for all of you to also experience that.
Be Honest, Be You
So yeah, this is what this app is about. I hope all of you get to experience the joy of learning more about the places that you like to go—or don't like to go. Because you can be as truthful as you might want, and no one will judge you for it. This is your space to be honest about your experiences.

Known Issues
I'm committed to transparency about the current limitations of the app. Here are some known issues I'm actively working to resolve:
Notification Handling Issue
When you tap a notification while the app is closed or running in the background, it may cause the app to freeze or crash. Additionally, the notification won't properly navigate to the specific recommended place. I'm working on a fix for this issue in an upcoming update.
